I used to be a huge Windows user, it was what I was used to, I was defensive of my windows, and I hated OS X. I decided to explore outside Windows a while ago, and I found so many better OS's! To me WINDOWS is DEAD.
Favorite Distros?
Ubuntu and Ubuntu Derivatives are some of my personal favorites, what are yours?
And why?
Do you like Linux Distros, BSD, or OS X the best?

Well Xubuntu, which saved one of my dying PCs (pretty sure windows had something to do with it), has got to get my vote.
But I'm also a fan of openSUSE and Mint.

Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS & Mint get my votes. Use OS X on my notebook though, for photography/web dev.

Ubuntu and SAM get my vote. SAM because it was lighter than Ubuntu for a while and helped me stay with Linux when I thought it was too heavy.

I have been a SuSE fan since my first tango with GNU/Linux. I've been playing around with gNewSense (based on Dapper) recently to try and wrap my head around a truly free system. That's been interesting.

Knoppix, Kanotix, Sidux and pcLinuxOS because I really like Kontact, k3b, AmaroK, digiKam and the ability to customise my taskbar. I also like Puppy for its speed and its many derivatives.

I have tried many linux distros... The main thing I look for in them is to play nicely with my laptop... Before a few weeks ago, the last Ubuntu I tried was 6.10 which was nice but did not work well with my wireless or my shared printer...
I have given 7.1 a try and I am very surprised... It just works... The proprietary drivers are great, the availability and ease of install of .deb packages are refreshing... All around its my new #1
I would have to say Ubuntu 7.10 is first, PCLinuxOS 2007 is second, Mint Linux 2008 third, and Mandriva is a distant fourth...
Others that show promise are: Freespire 2.08, Sam Linux, Sabayon, MEPIS, and Dreamlinux...
This is just my opinion. I have 4 different linux OS's and Windoze XP on my laptop... All the Linux OS's function better than Windoze with quicker boot time and better user interface... The ONLY reason I still use Windows XP is because of my need of Flash MX and Dreamweaver for web design and Paint Shop Pro for graphics on a couple of websites I do (Can't talk them out of those God awful Flash websites) ... Other than those and a few other apps, Linux is far superior. Can't wait for WINE to work with my versions of those apps...

I've also used quite a lot of Linux distributions, however, I've only been playing around with Linux for about a year, so I lack the required knowledge to fully appreciate some distributions. Arch is a perfect example of that. While it may be a great system, I've always run in to some critical problem along the way that I've been unable to solve.
Nevertheless, I've had great experiences with other distributions such as Ubuntu, Debian, Mint, etc. The only RPM-based distro I've tried was Fedora, and I had some serious issues with the package management (soooo sloooow).
Enough rambling, my favorite 3 are:
1. Ubuntu/Xubuntu - I love both Gnome and Xfce.
2. Debian - It's light, yet quite easy to set up.
3. Arch - Even if I've managed to mess up along the way, the time I've spent with Arch has been great.

Debian and Ubuntu, although Ubuntu was based on Debian. I really think I need to give Gentoo a shot, but I can say that the reason I love Debian/Ubuntu so much is the package management, plus that they have my favorite DE, GNOME, by default.
