I live in the UK and planning to upgrade my viewing and listening experience. Currently using Sky but seeing I don't watch much Sky only TV, I'm thinking of dropping it (and the payments of course)..

Anyway (ideally/initially) planning on trying a MythTV type affair. The thing is I really need Sky series link functionality. Now I've seen pictures/text that shows it get the schedule from the EIT but what about the series meta data?

My life style is to erratic and so is the TV schedule to rely on a timer based recording.

If I can't do this then I think I'll be forced to buy a BT Vision Box... which is cheap and will do the job but obviously I'll loose all the coll things like being able to have multiple frontends and all the coolness that brings.

Any help will be appreciated and I promise the update any wiki I can with the information I found hard to find :)

Hi,

I know this is a late reply... I am new to Mythtv and although I have not found a direct equivalent of Sky+ series link there is built in functionality which is at the same time better and worse.

When selecting a program to record there are various recording options, such as:

Record this program once
Record this program once/always on this channel
Record this program once/always on any channel

so there are five options which means you don't have to keep setting each series to record. Once you've found a series you like, the system keeps recording it and if it's good enough you can record all the repeats across all channels as well (like I love the WestWing and continue to watch it)....

I have seen patches for BBC Series Link... but I haven't seen it in the application yet and the patch was a year or so old.

Hope that helps

Rich
