I already have the GIMP, Inkscape and Firefox, so thats all good, but I would also be interested in Dolphin, and KWrite/Kate if anyone happens to know the link to a site where I could get it...

EDIT: Your probably wondering why I need another file browser, instead of explorer... well... long story, just trust me...
As for KWrite, who wants to use word? :p

btw it's not for home, where I will use Linux 24/7, its for at school, I run it off my memory stick :D

KDE apps have not yet been ported to Windows, as far as I know. KDE 4 will eventually be ported in its entirety to Windows, though.

The link below has thousands of free and/or open source apps for Windows, including text editors and file browsers.

The best portable text editor is Notepad++ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/notepadpluspe).

yea I saw that but there was no links as to how as far as I could tell

anyways, I have pretty much everything for now I think actually, like some other file browsers and stuff, but it would be nice to get all opensource-quality ;)

Try Abiword or OpenOffice instead of MS Word or MS Office.

Edit: Use Total Commander for file management instead of Windows Explorer or others that are freeware or opensource Like FreeCommander.

Examples:

yeah, I currently have AbiWord, GIMP, Firefox, XPlorer, and CubicExplorer...

I would just use openoffice, and also load on Inkscape, but it's an old 128Mb thing, so not much space ;)

What else do you need? :) ...Try replacing IE with Firefox ... or Opera, or Seamonkey... there was a howto around here on how to uninstall IE and replace it with Firefox... so that it doesn't reappear (but you had to turn off automatic updates or something)... Let's see... Here it is :D

PS: This is for WinXP, for Win95 you can simply uninstall it fom the control panel.

yeah, I use the same program on both Linux and windows for the most part

firefox
gimp
filezilla
openoffice
vlc

But there's a few programs I actually like better in linux than in windows. Like K3B I like better than anything windows has to offer.

I tried the KDE for windows and I was disappointed. I know it's in alpha stage and the reports seem pretty good, so looking forward to having some KDE applications running on windows and the environment.

Well, after people seeing me using GIMP some have tried it and many now prefer it to photoshop, and definitely prefer it to the school's software (Corel photo-paint/Draw/etc 10)
