I seriously like working in 3D. It's one of my passions. Yet, using Blender under Ubuntu is seriously becoming an issue. It's not ubuntu that's doing anything wrong, it's Blender. The User interface is very scary and a lot of the things don't make sense. I come from 3Dsmax 6 - 8 and Zbrush 2-3.1 so I have had to learn two completely different interfaces before but, nothing as odd as blender. I know you can edit the interface and have already changed the icons to appear as they would under 3DS max. I'd also like to arrange the panels differently and this is proving more difficult than I would like.
So, do any of you know how I could move the (original) lower pannel to the right hand side of the interface? This would really help me get a head start on moving other parts of the UI around.
Another issue is modeling. I am addicted to modeling using in dividual planes and extruding that plane into the correct loops and topology, but with blender I can't even seem to find how to connect to edges together (which is so essential). Cutting the topology is also something I like.. is there a way I can do this in blender? I know I am asking a lot of questions but it's so confusing!
Deleting polygons is easy and all that but how can I cap open edges to create a new polygon? That would really be nice.
I am sure all these features are there, I just can't seem to find/know how to use them under Blender.
Many thanks to anyone who can help me... if not oh well the interface trudge will continue. :-({|=
