Ok, so this is a ubuntu forum, but I have a dual boot system with vista and gutsy. My vista is screwed up. I think the registry is messed up, so I wonder if there is a tool I can use from within gutsy to edit/fix my vista registry?

Hello. You could try fixing the problem using the Vista disk, or you might also be able to fix it with a registy cleaner (I recommend CC Cleaner). If you try a registry cleaner, however, you might want to back up all of your data. Hope it helps.

You could use System Restore most likely.

I asked a question similar to this on the weekend.

The closest thing I got suggested is to use Wine to fix the Windows registry. However, the problem is that Wine will load up the Wine registry instead of the Windows registry, even if you try running regedit from the Windows directory.

In short, there doesn't seem to be anything (yet) to fix the registry in Linux.

Try booting in safe mode (does Vista even have safe mode?)
