I lean towards fake also, because nothing is proportioned properly.

If that thing is intended to resemble KDE4... it sucks...

It's fake. I'm too lazy to find it now but there was a website where people could upload their fake Windows Seven screenshots. Also look at the build number in the corner. 5490 was a build previous to Vista because Vista RTM is 6000 and Vienna is no longer used anywhere at Microsoft. The codename is now "Windows Seven" and so anything with Vienna in it is fake. If you want to see something resembling anything close to Windows 7 there is only one demonstration that I know of and all that is doing is focusing on MinWin (which will be in Windows 7 though).

Whatever it ends up looking like, they better not change it again. Changing their UI too often is a bad thing. They already went against history with their Ribbon, so they should let that sink in before switching things around.

I never figured out what the big deal was over the ribbon thing. I liked it...

It radically changed a UI that users expected. Whether good or bad, going against user expectations is not recommended.
The Ribbon is an interesting UI, but they do not allow one to use the more known UI.
I think the Ribbon was pretty well designed, however, I don't use MS Office, although it is installed on my Vista, I use Abiword most of the time.

Could be fake or not. Who cares. Microsoft will, as always, take a good idea and turn it into garbage.
I googled the ribbon. It looks OK but for anyone trying to use it on older hardware (on which Vista won't run anyway) it'll turn usable space on the screen into useless eye-candy. It's another push that will force people to spend money.

i believe a prior art claim would be easy enough to prove in this case.

First one is fake.
Second one is horrid i realy dont like that at all.
Realy tho for an OS that prides itself on its UI they could do a better job of it.
Untill vista there was nothing that mutch differnt form OS2

No, that one is fake too. I saw this same screenshot on the fake Windows 7 gallery. Also look in the corner. It says Vienna (no longer the codename), and it has an incorrect build number.

I don't really understand what's with the green look anyway. It makes me puke. plus i personally prefer my desktop as clean as possible, so all the 3d stuff and widgets i don't like and don't use neither in windows nor Linux. I also hate the names "windows" that's one stupid name.

I once stated on this forum I found the Windows Vista defaults to be sickly (green/yellow)
I like my desktop clean also, http://kmandla.wordpress.com/2007/12/21/an-interview-with-laroza/ screenshots of Vista and my Ubuntu desktops there.

Wow, looks like Microsoft is finally catching up to 3D Looking Glass. Took them long enough.
