What about a sub forum for database discussion under 'Development & Programming'.

Not a lot of people are interested in databases when posting under 'Programming talk' as words like Oracle, MySQL, Access, FileMaker don't always have to do with programming...

This is my opinion, not the Administration's decision.

I'd like to put forward the same argument as I did to the "web development" proposal.

Its important that we provide support to get databases up and running on Ubuntu. However aren't there already better forums out their suited to the discussion of actually using them? Normally the project's forums themselves?

The database management systems that are commonly used work the same way regardless of the OS.

However, a lot of web developers that used to work in other OS's (like Windows and Mac OSX) often ask questions about web development in Ubuntu. That is the reason the web development forum was proposes, because the OP of that thread saw a lot of such threads strewn about General Help, Absolute Beginners Talk, Art and Design, Multimedia and the Programming Talk forums and they "fit" in each section equally well.
