Hi, I saw the link to this project on boingboing and had a few questions that my usual brand of lurking didn't answer. The Vista compatibility thread is a bit daunting at 19 pages, and I was wondering what version would suit me best, especially given that I am running 32bit Vista Home Premium on my HP Turion 64X2 laptop. My primary goal, aside from the actual trying of Ubuntu, or Linux for that matter is to run older apps and games via WINE that do not yet have legacy support on vista due to some sort of driver signing issue. Is the 64 bit version going to prevent me from running any of these apps? Am I going to be better off skipping the 7.04 install and going straight for the 7.10 because of vista?

Based on what I've read I'll be better off with 7.10, but I'd still like some confirmation. With the Wubi-7.10-alpha-rev386 installer, which ISO file should I be downloading? I'm fine with figuring out problems due to the alpha status, but I'm unsure which is the correct ISO for my laptop, hence the question above.

Thanks in advance, hopefully I'll be up and running and lording it over plebeian Windows users in no time.

Windows Vista is supported in all wubi versions from 7.04+

The ISO for 7.04 is the ALTERNATE ISO
The ISO for 7.10+ is the DESKTOP ISO

Thanks, it worked after some tweaking. Now my main problem is getting my wireless card to work, but I know that this isn't the place to be posting about that.
