IRC Through Firewall

Hi everybody

im trying to connect to IRC with pidgin from windows. This seems slightly impossible for me at the moment.
Antivirus
McAfee VirusScan Enterprise Workstation
Firewall
no software firewall only a hardware one i haven't got access to.

using pidgin i can successfully connect to the sametime network here at my work and to my msn account using the "http method" stated under msn when you set up your account in pidgin.
how go get online to IRC using pidgin? i just cant seem to find the loophole anywhere.

<bump> I'd love to know how to do this as well. Even a basic tunneling guide so i can use irssi?
I'm behind a corporate firewall, even at home (i live on campus, so free internet!). I can get to the web, so could tunnel something over port 80, and things like hopster used to work, but i want to be able to do it myself and not have to pay for a program...
