Hi, I'm a total noob to ubuntu, but I am loving it!

Anyway I have a ps2 keyboard and mouse that I am trying to get working with a shuttle that only has usb in. I purchased a run of the mill ps2 to usb adapter. It has a single usb plug with a ps2 plug for both the keyboard and mouse.

The reason I need the ps2 mouse and keyboard is because I am running off of a 8 channel KVM that only outputs via PS2.

A few weeks ago I got the machine working by spending an hour or two plugging and un plugging and rebooting and trying all sorts of crazy combinations.

I recently had to reboot due to updates and I can't get the ps2 to usb adapter working. If I turn on the computer with the mouse and keyboard plugged into the adapter only the keyboard works. I __KNOW__ that I can get the mouse to work as it worked earlier today, I just don't know what it is that I did that got it to work.

does anybody know what I can do to get the PS2 to USB adapter working. I really need this as I don't want to purchase a new KVM.

Ok so I figured out that if I reboot the machine with a USB mouse plugged in and the PS2 mouse plugged into one of two of the USB slots it works. What I don't get is why can't I have the KVM plugged into the same ps2 to usb converter plugged into the same slot without the usb mouse? If I do this then the mouse doesn't work when I boot...

Hi, I do have the same problems with such a switch. And for some Servers the switch works fine but another server doesn't accept the mouse. All Servers are running windows.
I don't think that it is a problem of the switch because for some servers everything is fine.
I think, but I don't know if I am right, that it has to do sth. with the combination switch<>server must be a hardware thing??
