I have been using Mandriva One 2008 for 3 weeks now, and I have been very pleased with the performance... but when I started up my desktop today something strange happend. Right after the GRUB-menu had disapaird and Mandriva started to load, it stopped and showed this message on screen:
Mandriva Linux release 2008.0 (official) for i586
Kernel 2.6.22.12-desktop586-1mdv on a i686 / tty1
(none) login:
I have tried to log in using my username, but nothing happens!
I have tried to boot using the failsafe mode, but I get the same result... But my XP partition boots without any problem!
I have booted up using the liveCD witch I used to install.
Running "fdisk -l" in consoll gave these readings:
Disk /dev/hda: 80.0 GB, 80000000000 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9726 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0xd0bed0be
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 2550 20482843+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda2 2551 6683 33198322+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/hda3 6684 9594 23382607+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda4 9595 9726 1060290 5 Extended
/dev/hda5 9595 9726 1060258+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
My worst fear is that I have to do a complete reinstall, because I really had a gotten to a point where I could see Mandriva replacing Win XP as my first choice.
I hope someone can help me figure out what's wrong, and help me fix it!
