View Full Version : GIMP 2.4.2: Problems to paste pictures from clipboard

First of all: I use Ubuntu Gutsy with Gnome.

I copied a picture from digiKam editor to the clipboard and paste it into Gimp 2.4.2. The first two times everything was fine. The next time I got a message: "There is no image data in the clipboard to paste". But definetely there is! I opened OpenOffice and paste that picture into the program.

Afterwards I reinstalled digiKam which makes no difference. The problem seems to be a GIMP problem. So I reinstalled GIMP. The first attempt to paste a picture from the clipboard was successful! But the next didn't work. :-(

Does anyone has an idea or an solution?

Regards
Goetz

One workaround is you may have to copy it from digikam to openoffice and then from openoffice to gimp, that sometimes is the case when applications don't always communicate with each other every time.

you could always save it as an image with digikam and open it in gimp to copy to your desired destination

hope this helps :)

Okay that would be a possibility. But the easier way in that case is to remeber the file name and open the file directly in Gimp instead of using a third program like Open Office.
In my opinion the clipboard is accessible for all programs in the same way. Copying picture data into the clipboard should not result in a message that picture are not available by the target application. Espicially because it worked the first times. :(

Yeah I see what you mean, perhaps the Clip board just gets confused with multiple pictures on it because the is so much information being coppied or something like that, Sorry not to be of any more help.
