Hi fellow ubuntu gamers. I've been trying to host a circleMUD server on my wireless laptop but to no success :/ Can anyone try host a server on a similiar set up and help me set it up so people can access the mud from my WAN IP address? or any help in general would be really great.

I think your firewall/NAT is blocking outside connections to your laptop, that's why nobody can connect.

I would not want to mud over a wireless connection, and mudding on a sever that has a wireless connection just sounds horrid. That being said, is this your home Internet Connection? Do you have a static IP, or does it change regularly? Do you have access to the router to forward the port you choose to your laptop IP? What sort of router do you have?

yep its my home internet, its a static address so no problems there, I've got an asus wl-600g router, all the ports have been forwarded to the ip so shouldn't have any problems there.
