View Full Version : RAV TUX returns!

RAV TUX
January 19th, 2008, 12:11 PM
I know many of you missed my absence, and look forward to my future post. My apologies for such a long absence I have not forgotten about you. http://cafelinux.org/forum/Smileys/TheBlacy_small/big_smile.png

As far as what I have been up to, as many of you may know I recently moved from Washington DC to Portland, Oregon.

reference:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=640253&highlight=RAV+TUX

Please also reference the statement I posted at the CafeLinux.org Forum about my return:

http://cafelinux.org/forum/index.php/topic,970.0.html

In my absence much has been happening, Rui Pais has been busy working on OzOs, and I look forward to Rui's release of Oz.

I admittedly have not been able to keep up much with the Ubuntu world or Linux for that matter and probably will not be able to until next month.

So please tell me of any new developments in the past couple of months...

Whats new?...I am very interested to know.

The Fedora community Forum is a wonderful and friendly place to be...very nice and helpful community there. The people are very, very nice. I would say equally on par with the Ubuntu community. http://cafelinux.org/forum/Smileys/TheBlacy_small/victory.png

Also, RAV, Mint 17 is looking to release their version of e17 on Mint in a couple weeks. You may want to give that a try.

I will have to give it a try and also I need to add them to the UEOSC (http://cafelinux.org/ueosc/) website.

It is good to see that Mint has rejuvenated their e17 version, I was sad when they removed it before from their download page.

It is good to see the renewed interest and usage of e17 in so many different projects. http://cafelinux.org/forum/Smileys/TheBlacy_small/victory.png

Welcome to the Rainy and Cold Pacific Northwest RAV. Here we have 10 months of rain and cold weather, But it's green as can be. As for LUGs I'm assuming you are talking about linux user groups, I have only been playing with nix for about 9 months now so I don't know of any specific groups. I have messaged a buddy that knows about some but after a google search I did find nice page with a number of them listed.

I love the weather in Portland, it is one of my favorite parts about being back here.

Thanks for doing the research and suppling a wonderful link.

I hope to be more active here in the local PDX Nix community.

Your greeting makes being back all the more meaningful.

There is no place like home. http://cafelinux.org/forum/Smileys/TheBlacy_small/victory.png

(btw I was just reading your blog about Fedora 8, and find it interesting that you have made the change from Ubuntu to Fedora and that you wrote how YUM is now faster then Apt, if you could elaborate a bit I would find it very interesting)

Lol I just looked outside and it's snowing now. I would agree I like the weather here as well I mean I have been here 31 yrs now so that should say something. Also if you live in the city stay off the roads after it's snowed. There were a number of ppl last year that tried to drive and end up bouncing off every parked car on their street.

No snow here in the West Hills of Portland but I am on the West side of the West Hills it could be snowing on the East side? http://cafelinux.org/forum/Smileys/TheBlacy_small/grimace.png

There is a nice blanket of fog setting on top of me here now. It makes the evergreens look hazy and fuzzy.

I love Portland, I love Oregon, I love being back in the Pacific North West. (Makes me miss Juneau, Alaskahttp://cafelinux.org/forum/Smileys/TheBlacy_small/unhappy.png)

is it really necessary to use smileys....from another forum? Diversity has never been designed by necessity.

Good to see a negative spin is still put on the most trivial of matters.

Good to see you again, Polygon. How are things for you?

Happy Happy, Joy Joy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKHK01e37Kw) is the third clip in that video. It was the only one I could find that was the same as I remembered. You'll notice that it is a capture from MTV2, so perhaps the original is available there.
