I've been recording with growisofs for many months now, but today I have encountered a bug, which seems to be dependent on the file names that are being recorded, here's the output that I get:

vi@compy:~$ growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/dvd -J -R /home/vi/dvd6

One thing that I don't understand is: why close the disk if nothing was recorded?! :(

The bug repeats every time when I try to record that directory. I'm gonna try renaming Jericho's and see if bug repeats.

Try using mkisofs to make the image first. Genisoimage has a few bugs ;)

Thank you, disturbed1 for quick reply. I wasn't creating image first because I don't always have enough space on hard drive, but that's not a big problem. I was wondering maybe using k3b will be a better/safer alternative to growisofs, or is it essentially the same thing?

K3b is only a gui to growisofs and wodim/cdrecord/cdrdao.

Run growisofs from a terminal with the -version command.

Here's what I get :D

:~$ growisofs -version
* growisofs by <appro@fy.chalmers.se>, version 7.0.1,
front-ending to genisoimage: mkisofs 2.01.01a33 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1993-1997 Eric Youngdale (C) 1997-2007 Jrg SchillingI deleted the wodim and genisoimage binaries and copied/renamed cdrecord/mkisofs to overcome the stupid errors present in these 2 packages.

Wodim and Genisoimage are a Debian fork of cdrecord and mkisofs, the commands are exactly the same. Only wodim and genisoimage are based on 4 year old code with little to know development presently going on.

I get the following output from "growisofs -version":

* growisofs by <appro@fy.chalmers.se>, version 7.0.1,
front-ending to genisoimage: genisoimage 1.1.6 (Linux)
