[SOLVED] wallpaper WIP- C&C wanted

I'm working on a desktop wallpaper of a desk top (i.e., the top of a desk) hee hee hee... :D
anyway, I feel might look bare at the moment- but I'm also thinking the righthand area will be filled with icons anyway, so... (I personally don't use icons on my desktop)
anyway, looking for some comments and suggestions, or is this one good to go?

It looks good, maybe a sketch of the ubuntu logo on the bottom right corner of the top piece of paper? Also, might want to give the pencil "edges", as it looks too round for a normal pencil.

The paper looks too much like stone. Perhaps a little "vaseline" so to speak over the area would help?

It may just be my screen, but it appears that the upper left corner of the desk grades from dark to slightly lighter toward the bottom left. The shadow applied to the pencil indicates that the light is coming from the upper right-- so the lighting doesn't jive.

If it's just me, then you may obtain a better sense of depth in the picture by lightening the upper right corner of the desk a bit.

thanks for all the comments. This is what I have now... I've redone the desk texture (it looked more like rough wood on a full 1280x800), the paper and pencil. Also added the ubuntu logo sketch, with smudges and erases :lol:
tell me what you think.
dial-up warning: it's a full 1280x800 this time, because shrinking textured surfaces makes them look and feel different.

very very nice... i like the feel of it... only think to work on are the smudges... they look too 'on purpose' if you get my point... maybe just smudge on one side of the paper

but 4+ for the effort

changed the sketched logo, it looked too light to me... this one is more... er, 'sketchy' :)

I think you overdid the smudging on that one. Also, the unsmudged parts of the logo need to be antialiased.

Well, finally got the time to finish it. Here are the final versions (I hope). One with the logo, one without- I figure you can put your conky on the blank paper if you're so inclined.
