Nvidia driver on K7 precompiled kernel

Nvidia drivers work great with i386 kernel, but since I have an Athlon processor, I'd like to try K7 kernel; since I'm using precompiled version from Ubuntu, I wonder if there a simple way, using precompiled modules...
I tried installing directly from nvidia package, but something's gone wrong; I hope somebody did succesfully, otherwiase I'll try again and post error meesages. Many thansk to all
