Hey

I'm trying to upgrade a friends video card, but we are having a few problems....

The motherboard is a km400-m based motherboard, and we are trying to install a ati 9550 video card, but when it's in, the computer won't start up, just beeps. If we install the old video card, works no problem.

I'm stuck on this one, anyone have any ideas?

I'm far from an expert on hardware, but how's and how many beeps does it say?

sounds close to this one

It's one long beep, then goes, and does it again.

Don't know about beeps, but just some quick checks:

1. If BIOS has AGP Drive strength (control) or other such AGP options - write down current settings and make incremental changes. Set AGP rate to 8x (I assume) and then try adjusting Drive strength (control) next (if possible).

2. If 1 fails, check for BIOS update.

What is exact motherboard model (with revision number, if known)?
