Question about windows Re-install cd's

I've been trying to put windows XP on my laptop through a dell re-install cd, but when it is downloaded I can't go on the internet because it says I'm not connected (or somthing like that) but the question is the computer it came with still has XP on it so is that the reason why I cant use the internet? also the drivers for my computer (the cd their on) won't install on the XP... so it might be a licencing issue or somthing?

When you say the drivers won't install on XP, can you be more specific? What is the error message you get when you try to install the drivers? Can you post a screenshot?

Hmm well I've deleted my windows partition because of this error a while ago, but I was thinking of re-installing it, just for some apps that won't work through wine, on like 10 gigs of space so I'll post back here in however long it takes, so I can give you details, also how would I get an Sshot?

Also the computer origionally had vista on it, but I've lost that cd (:P) and I belive it says somthing along the lines of Cd error but this is going to take a while. so I'll post back later

Shoot this happens every time I install windows but I can't get into ubuntu, usally I just refresh my HD but I can't now, should I delete my windows part? will that solve?OH SHOOT none of my partitions are showing on GPARTED on the live cd I hope its bugged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
