[SOLVED] gtk problem

it isn't letting me install a new theme in gtk
when i click install then choose the theme it says it installed but then i am unable to select the theme and the theme is not in the manager
i'm assuming the only way to get to gtk is system>preferences>appearance

Which theme were you trying to install? Some themes are not entire themes, but only icon-sets, or GTK controls. Try clicking the "Customize" button from Themes and browse through the tabs there - you'll probably find your installed themes under Icons or Controls.
