View Full Version : Editor with multiple windows and a directory tree?

I'm looking for an editor with customizable syntax highlighting for php and html that allows me to have multiple windows open (side by side not tabbed), along with a directory tree. Bluefish looks good except that it tabs multiple documents (unless there's a setting I haven't found). NVU doesn't do it either and for some reason didn't resonate with me as well. Anybody know of such an editor. In windows I've been using Dreamweaver.

Try Cream (vim heavily modded for new users) or vim itself under X. Every UNIX machine on earth has some form of vi installed so it's handy to at least know the basics.

Kate is pretty sweet if you don't mind using KDE aps. It's the basis for the Quanta Plus web IDE which also kicks ass.

SciTe is worth a look if you want somthing without as many bells and whistles.
