View Full Version : WoW having weird lag every 2-5 sec

Hello fellow Ubuntu users

Im having some weird problems when playing wow
When i start the game it makes some weird lagg or glitches every 2-5 secs, it looks kinda like a little lag spike every time, but its graphic related.
I have tryied almost every trick in the book
I have changed regedit
I have changed Config.wtf
i have changes Xorg.conf
I have changed craphic settings in the game
I have tryied with fresh install and tryied all the tricks again

Im running on a
Intel Pentium M 2GHZ
1024 mb ram
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 think its 256 or 512 mb ram cant remember

My Wine version is 0.9.52

I finally got it working, by reinstalling the graphic driver, i have no idea what made it work but nm its working :D

And hikaricore im sorry i promise it wont happen again

This can happen if there are other applications using the cpu. I've had it too with various games, and it can be difficult to diagnose. Specifically, running deluge, or having system monitor open caused the little glitches periodically in many games, although neither seemed to use that much cpu.
Try closing most other applications before running wow, and see if it helps.
It goes without saying that compiz/beryl must be off when running games.
Also, you can try giving a higher priority to your wine proccess , with 'renice' , but you'd better look for some other post on how exactly to do that, and what proccesses to renice (wow.exe or wineserver or both, I can't remember)..
