HAPPY NEW YEAR MGA KAKUSA!!!!

I'm migrating my entire DTP/Net cafe biz to Linux and is dumping my Genius scanner for a new one. Anybody here can recommend a Linux-ready scanner?

AFAIK if the scanner is USB it should work with Linux. Just get XSane and you're good to go.

Unfortunately, that isn't my case. Already looked up for drivers for this Genius scanner on SANE/XSANE website, there was none.

scanner na hindi plug & play? how old is that?
I use an epson. AIO, actually, ung CX5300. kaso nasira yung print head, so ngayon scanner na lang cya at tulugan ng mga pusa ko. hehe.
Any Epson/HP should do fine; they have great track record for running on Linux.

I'm using a CanoScan LIDE 25. It wouldn't work with Feisty, but it works fine with Gutsy. :)

Kelangan mo pa rin bang mag-install ng Xsane para mapagana? Pareho tayo ng scanner kaya ko natanong.

Check out the Sane-project (http://www.sane-project.org/sane-supported-devices.html).

Thanks kstella. Canoscan LiDE25 was my choice too(after wading through SANE). At least now I know it will really work in Gutsy.

I have an HP PSC 1210v, it's an all-in-one... No drivers needed. It just works(tm)! Use HP as much as possible.

But before, I used to have a Genius Colorpage Vivid4X. Here's a Howto:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GeniusColorpageVivid4X
and a blog post with a sample scan (so you can check its quality):

If there's still one available, then I would think it'll only cost less than 1K. Cheap, and works well.

I have a Canon PIXMA MP150. It works perfectly. The scanner works out of the box and there's a driver available for the printer. :D

Oo. Install xsane, tapos plug the scanner into the usb port. Pag start-up ng xsane, madedetect na iyan. :)

I think, XSane is installed by default. You may want to try KDE's Kooka. The interface is easier to use (for me).

Hi thalita. You don't need a driver/installer for Canoscan Lide25. Just plug the scanner, start Xsane which will detect installed scanners and you're good to go.
