I installed vmware 6.02 (64bit) workstation on ubuntu 7.10 64 bit dual core and it seems to work. I fired up a fedora core vm (32bit) that I already have on another machine and it worked. Next I started creating a new vm to install the ubuntu 7.10 server (32bit). The install went without a hitch, seems to have found and configured the network and the install completed. Now I cannot boot the newly installed vm. It loads the kernel and goes as far as running scripts from rc.local in the boot process and hangs there forever.

The only other forum post that came close was this:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=191235
Howver, it is not clear to me what the resolution was from the post. It seems like the kernel in the server version may have something to do with it.

Anyone had any success with this? I am trying a regular ubuntu install also to see if that makes any difference.
