Well, I'm kind of stuck with my Tivo for another couple of years and I have an extra dishnetwork receiver (standard def) laying around, so I thought I'd get a tv card and set it up to view on the 22" monitor I have in the home office. I've been looking at all the Hauppauge brands, but I'm not sure which one would simply fit the bill and/or which one would be expandable in the future, when I'm done with Tivo and can set up MythTV or receive HD signals. So for now, I'm letting the Tivo do the recording, then just transferring later and using tivodecode.
What card should I get?

Why do you say that you're stuck with Tivo?
If you're looking to do analog capture from the Dish receiver, get a Hauppauge 150. If you're looking for a future proof solution, get an HDHomeRun. All of the OTA broadcasters are switching to digital (in the US in February 2008)

well, as far as tivo is concerned, when you sign up with them your hooked into a 2 or 3 year deal. at the time i started with them (dec '06) i was still a couple of months from finally converting to linux. so, unless i want to pay a penalty, i'll have their service for another couple of years.
about the OTA stuff, i've been wondering about that. i'm thinking that these signals are picked up by people that live in areas (like cities) where there are actually signals to pick up! when you live out in the country, i figure your pretty much relegated to satellite service. right??
therefore, the 150 seems to be one of the top choices right now. thanks.
