I almost stopped when I read it was linked to the microsoft webpage...but I clicked it anyway. Then it wouldn't load, probably because of my dial up. darn

those numbers are rediculous. i'm not saying that they are lying but i'd like to know exactly what was tested, what specs the computers had and more importantly who configured the servers. in my expierence statistics can be very decieving. also they said windows server was faster --which i find hard to believe-- but they didn't say how many times it crashed... hehehe:lolflag:

The Highly Reliable Times is as credible as Fox News.

+1.We have had many of those ads going around in TV and the newspapers recently here and I tried out that website too,it's all testimonials from people we have never heard of,and each testimonial is more like a PR release.

And get the facts:NYSE shifted over to Linux from HP-UX(found on /.) rather than Windows Server, why so,we may ask MS?

Seriously- nothing beats using an in- house developed Linux custom kernel such as Pay Pal or Google use. Can I do that with Microsoft? Let's just stop there, Microsoft is outclassed.

Agreed...I work for one of the world's largest ISP's, and we use almost exclusively SUN and Linux servers.

I wonder howmuch Microsoft payed them to use Windows :p

didn't the New York Stock Exchange recently invest heavily into linux servers? I'm sure NYSE does a lot more trading than Londons, and since neither can afford to have glitches in the network I seriously contest MS claims of over 200% performance increases over linux.

A Sun Enterprise T5220 running Solaris sure does - but I think your point is between Linux and Windows. ;)

No, this is an old campaign that microsoft is doing.

I seriously doubt their numbers, and yeah, NYSE is looking into linux servers too.

Curious-But the Linux clustering idea is different right? (Ultimate customization freedom and redundancy)

Let's not forget that Microsoft at one time had (does it still?) it's downloads hosted on a linux server. Seems like they would have either done it in house on their own sofwarre, or contracted somebody that used their software. ;)
