I am running Ubuntu 7.10 on an external 80 gig hard drive. My internal hard drive has windows vista installed on it. Is there any way I can use wine to run windows apps directly off of my internal hard drive (vista) without installing them again on the external (where Ubuntu is)?

Did You try that? So what stops You? Only one thing - be sure your NTFS is writable (it is necessary for program - as You know). For wine - it is no matter where *.exe is situated. By the way - there is Vista profile in the latest release of wine.

The few programs that I have tried have given me errors (mostly saying that can't find certain system files). I'm not really familiar with wine, when I run winecfg where should I set up the fake C drive? Should I use the one that wine sets up on my ubuntu installation or should I use the actual C drive on my vista installation?
