Help Me With Something Wikipedia Related!

I was surfing Digg and came across this:

I don't own an iPod, but it would be great to have a local back-up of Wikipedia. Sometimes, I don't have the internet. This would be GREAT to have on hand. I was wondering if you guys could help me.

Have you tried searching the forums? There used to be a thread on this.

I swear there used to be a thread on making a local compressed copy of wikipedia, though. Just don't remember the specifics of it.
