I have a great mythbuntu setup and am really enjoying the stability and all the options. I watch and record programmes from Sky TV which works fine. However, I cannot seem to get the commercial skip to work (never used it before).

I have selected Utilities/Setup/Setup/TVSettings/General then on the third page I have checked:

*Commercial Flag New Recordings
*Skip method - ""All available methods"
* Strict Commercial Detection.

And in the Setup/Playback/ Commercial Skip section on page 7 I have selected:

Autoskip Commercials = "AutoSkip"

All that happens, is that all the commercials are still there and, worse, for some reason there are one or two bits in each recording that are shown as "AutoSkip" for 3-4 minutes each - these parts are jumped. I can pause the recording and rewind to just AFTER the skip started and watch the missing bits (what a PITA), but if I rewind to just BEFORE the Auto skip, it skips that 3-4 minute bit again.

1. How do i stop it autoskipping after a recording has been made and I want to watch the whole programme?

2. How do I set up my system to properly detect and skip the commercials (accepting that the odd one will be missed)?

TIA

Sorry but i can't answer your question, but i would like to ask you one

What hardware do you need for using sky on myth tv, and have you got a how-to that you followed.

Many Thanks

Sorry arjay1 off topic agian, but I'd be interested in how to get Sky working with Mythbuntu as well. Is it kind of standard for set top boxes because I'm possibly going to have to get Virgin Media TV in my new place using a V box rather than a sky box.

Cheers

I'm in the UK - using freeview card in my myth system and the commercial detection has only worked on one commercial break on one recording - most of the time it just detects a lot of fades and scene changes in programmes and comes up with false positives for commercials.

I'd be interested to see if anyone has any ways to get it to work better in the UK.
