Cernlib, which is in the repositories. Its fairly complete. I haven't used it much though.

If rigid body dynamics is what you're after, you may want to take a look at ode.org:
ODE is an open source, high performance library for simulating rigid body dynamics. It is fully featured, stable, mature and platform independent with an easy to use C/C++ API. It has advanced joint types and integrated collision detection with friction. ODE is useful for simulating vehicles, objects in virtual reality environments and virtual creatures. It is currently used in many computer games, 3D authoring tools and simulation tools.

hi i just found this forum on google - i need some help i'm doing a computing project at uni - basically making a web application for teaching A level physics -including interactive flash animations etc

the only thing is i did no kind of surveys or anything so does anyone have any suggestions generally on what people would want included in this kind of application? ideally any physics students themselves?

Well, i've been messin around with a program called Phun. Its one of those interactive physics programs that lets you manipulate objects, create your own, set environment parameters, mess with simple hydrodynamics. I dunno, its not too complex, but its the closest thing i've come across in linux to an interactive physics program. I came across it at the LinuxGames site. Its pretty easy to use.

Here's the PHUN page, where you can download it, etc....:

One thing about PHUN: you don't have to install it. Just navigate into the folder and run it.
