hey there.
just got enemy territory running happily with nonXGL for full-screen goodness, but while i was able to play just fine under 7.04, apparently something is different with 7.10
when i start the game, my server list populates... but there's no luck in connecting to any of the servers. it gets to the 'you're connecting' page and just sits there counting up waiting for connection. any suggestions?

It works fine for me in 7.10, and I haven't had any problems. You may want to ask, or search, in the tech section over at the ET:QW forums, though: http://community.enemyterritory.com/ :) Many Linux users there, too. I don't think it's a trouble specific to Ubuntu.

@ mivo : is there a way to confirm that ET has all the permissions it needs for connectivity and write access to save maps?

Custom maps? I don't know, I never tried any (are there any yet?). I can confirm, though, that the game will run and connect to online servers fine "out of the box" on a regular user account if you follow the steps outlined in the How-To (http://ubuntu-utah.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=583762) . I installed it in my home directory, too, so all there is are regular user privileges. I vaguely recall seeing something about your trouble in the Connection Issues thread at the ET:QW forums, but I only skimmed the thread since (for once) I had no problems with the game. I'd probably start there.

@ mivo : that forum seems to be wholly dedicated to ET:quake wars now :(

Yes, I do, actually. Got the same issue as you. Un-check your "Save Password" if you have it checked and just do it manually for now. OR, I ended up logging out of my username and logged back in making sure to not have that checked. Try that out and see what you get...

actually, i didn't see where the password would be saved? but it must have just been some internet weirdness, because i now connect fine to servers. however, it halts on download, so i think i need to set some directory or write permissions. any suggestions what to check?

No, I don't...but if you have the issue again, just try disconnecting and reconnecting. Seems to work fine, but, if you still have issues, someone might know.
FYI: the password saving feature is down at the bottom. It's a box that will be X'ed if it is saving it.
