Ello,
I have been trying to get CS:S to work on ubuntu (gutsy) so i can finally completly dump windows.
I have tried following several howtos readthrough loads of threads etc, but i cant seem to get it to work properly.
I have steam installed and CS:S installed and updated, the problem is that steam is incredibly slow to load (~5 mins just to log in) and slow to respond.
Source runs, but when i join a server i get a very low fps (about ) and no sound (howeveer, when i set sound normally to OSS or ALSA i dont get sound, i have to set it to c-media (which is my sound carrd))

Does anyone know of how i can
(a) increse the fps to a reasonable level
or
(b) get the sound to work

thanks

p.s
My computer::-
celeron D 3.06 GHz
1.5Gb of RAM
nVidia geforce 5500 FX graphics card
C-Media PCI IEC958 sound card

this gives me about 50-60fps when running steam on windows.
