Do I really need the low latency kernel to play ET:QW well? Gutsy doesn't have one, right? So if I need one, can I just install the real time kernel instead. And how well does the demo run? Can I trust it to give me a good idea as to how the game would run if I purchased the full version available at stores?

From where did you get that you need a tailored kernel to play ET:QW? It plays fine on the "normal" kernel on gutsy - and run fine on RT kernel aswell (I've not noticed a big performance diffrence).
You need to give us your specs to estimate if it will play good on your computer, but you can also download the doom 3 demo and see how well it will flow since it's practically the same engine.

Thanks for the reply. Well I have an HP laptop dv9000t, here are the specs:
17 in screen, max resolution 1650 x 1050
2 GB RAM
Core 2 Duo Processor 1.83 GHz
100 GB Hard drive 5400 RPM
512 MB dedicated VRAM Nvidia Geforce Go 7600
Anything else I am missing?

And by the way, when I installed the linux demo version of ET:QW it said that it recommended me to use a low latency kernel.
