Command and Conquer generals Won't boot

I have a problem when i'm trying to start C&C generals. It shows the first screen but then it just closes without any reports or reasons why. I use Linux Ubuntu 7.10 and the latest wine and i installed everything the right way, i think..

Can anyone help?

Might wanna check around here (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1287). Maybe a few comments on how to fix that, but according to it, v1.0x runs like Garbage on Ubuntu...
