steam - error help linux newbie

just installed wine, tahome font and steam it starts up fine shows font but it wont let me log in. its says:- login to steam failed. either the specified account does not exist or the password is incorrect. please check username and password and try again. I have tried restarting it etc. but can't get it to work still logs on when i try on a windows xp machine please help!!!

I can't even get steam to show up in wine or in my kmenu! help me too!

wine works almost perfectly for me (except for chatting with friends) so i know it works. Are you sure your typing the right password, and making sure that when your typing your password, its actually entering something in the password box?

and if you cant get steam to show up in the menu...try cd'ing to the directory where steam.exe is and run

wine steam.exe

yeah correct password correct login i don't get it I even tried a different account and it still didn't work
