Hey people, I want to get the ScummVM to run on Ubuntu because I have a few old mokey Island games I want to play again.
I was just on IRC and they said that the .deb file wouldnt work on Ubuntu and to use the Synaptic manager, but I'm totally confused as to how Im supposed to work this.

Could someone help me?

To install it from Synaptic go to the menu item System --> Administration --> Synaptic Package Manager. First, make sure that you have the universe repositories enabled...to do that in Synaptic go to System --> Repositories. Select Ubuntu 5.04 "Hoary Hedgehog" (Binary) and hit the Edit button. Make sure "universe" appears somewhere in the Sections field. Once you do that, close the repositories window, search for scummvm, check the box, then hit Apply.

Now I think I'll install it too...I have a few games on that list. It'll be cool to see them again. :)

Im pretty much a noob here, I've done the Synaptic thing, downloaded ScummVM and two other things it said I needed to run it, and I dont know what to do now.

This'll probably sound stupid, but where has it saved the file? How do I open them?

Thanks for your help so far,
Jack

Ubuntu is the best distro I've used! The only one which just works! Keep up the good work people!

Thanks

Great!

For future reference, after you get done installing something in Synaptic you can right-click the package and select Properties and one of tabs will show you a list of installed files and where they were installed to.

Semi-OT: While you're at it: there are two freely downloadable games in the repositories as well: Beneath a Steel Sky (a cyberpunk adventure), and Flight of the Amazon Queen (Fantasy?). BaSS was a bit dark, but very funny. I haven't played FotAQ yet.

Yay to the ScummVM development team. \\:D/

SCUMM rocks. I'm replaying Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis now, sooo good.
