Hi there,
After all, LightCraft decided to carry on developing LightZone for Linux. Version 3.3beta has just been released. It is available as a demo version valid until January 30 2008: http://www.lightcrafts.com/linux/index.html
Good for RAW processing...
Take care.

It doesn't appear to be free for Linux users any longer. From what I've read on another forum the software becomes crippled after 21 days, thereafter watermarking saved images.
Can anyone here either confirm or deny this?
Pity if it's true...:(

Unfortunately, it is true :( LightZone is no longer free for Linux users :( Last free ed. was 2.4, I think

it is a free beta, they are trying to see if it ok to provide an supported version (paid version) of ti. I personally think that it is a good thing since this means there might be enough Linux users for commercial companies to pay attention.

3.4 beta is out now- fixes the crashing bug that afflicted many pengiun boxes. Plays very nicely with Gutsy.
The company is looking for a ground swell support from Linux photographers, so please go along and sign up and download the beta. Not free but good enough for me to want to buy it, if they keep on with the development cycle.

LightZone looks great! How does it compare with light room from adobe?

I have never actually used any of the other products. Once I found Lightzone I have never looked back. I find that its focus on light and zones within the photo very intuitive, and a long way from pixel values, histograms, and maths that seems to get in the way of art and the feeling that made you take the picture in the first place.
This

is a reasoned comparison with Photoshop. Let us hope that they keep up the linux support.
