This is a programme that always reminded me of when I was younger, and it always makes me feel Christmassy - The Snowman, by Raymond Briggs. The soundtrack is pretty epic for a kid's Christmas programme, but I love it.

The story is of a boy who builds a snowman. That night, the boy's restless, so goes downstairs and looks out of the window. The Snowman comes to life in front of his eyes. The boy shows the Snowman around, and then the Snowman flies with him north to meet all the other Snowmen who have come alive. They return to his house, and he goes to sleep well rested. The next day, he rushes downstairs and out into the garden again, only to find that the snowman has melted. It kinda has a message to it - live to the fullest whilst you can, you never know when it might be too late to spend time with loved ones.

Another remarkable thing about it is that it's 100% hand-drawn. I know it's above some people to watch this, but it's a great piece of artwork.

If anyone else wants to see this reach Digg's front page: have a clicky: http://digg.com/comics_animation/Raymond_Briggs_The_Snowman_on_YouTube (http://digg.com/comics_animation/Raymond_Briggs_The_Snowman_on_YouTube)

The url contained a malformed video id.

Are you talking about the one with David Bowie introducing it, or just a better quality vid?

My son ran the video tape to rags and loved the book to shreds.

At the end, I had to do some special exercises in patience whenever I heard the title music.

Still, it's really well done.
