I made a mockup of what i would like to see in hardy. I know it isn't very likely to happen, but I thought I would give it a try. Post comments on it please.

i dont like it personally, also having such a contrasted gradient against single colour text is never a good idea from a design point of view either.

I am trying to improve it, would you like a lighter theme better? I could do that. :)

well orange to black is an extreme gradient, making the text look bad, you a natural progression in a gradient, like black to grey or alternatively just single colour

I made it, here is the link to it (http://smartboy.salocinlinux.org/db/Wallpapers/supernova.png).

Ok, I will try changing the panels. Maybe black and brown would look better... or maybe black and dark orange. I will have to think about this. :)

I would say that it looks like the average theme on ubuntu-look.org, which unfortunately isn't all that good. :)

Try to give it less contrast (using a darker orange and grey instead of black). I think that will do a lot.

I redid my panels, but found that doing a dark grey and dark orange made it look bad, so I just darkened the orange. Tell me what you think! I can upload the source if you want.

This one has a window border in it, but I am probably going to change the font sizes, so I don't know if the mockup will stay.

Here is the final portion of this mockup series. I will probably edit the text sizes and such, and might add a few more items to it, but the bulk of the work is done. :)

I also made some with alternate wallpapers:

Please tell me what you think! Constructive Critism welcome. I am always trying to improve this! :)
