2D == gimp, inkscape, or maybe even xara extreme.

I use Inkscape's development version, and I find it is great! Not as many features as GIMP, but in my opinion it is easier to edit a pic than in GIMP.

xara extreme is not really free.

I right now just plan to make graphic arts for my webpage and want it look gameish professional looking.

I have blender3d, and I am looking for a program to create 2d art and textures ect that is free.

I plan to use it for commerical stuff but want it to be free, no royalties or monthly payments for the licenese to us their products for commercial projects.

So do you guy's know of any good websites with good tutorials that really teaches you how to make advance art. game art type stuff. I have see lot's of other peoples work in blender 3d and their models looks very life like, and is impressive. I want get to that level of understanding on how they create such works of art.

I have googled around for blender and gimp and also flash. but haven't seen any good tutorials and stuff. I really want to know what a professional artist should know.

I am planning to use blender to create some demon creature thing, for my website where he splits the backround of the page in half and in that crak where it was splited comes out water mist vapors and then slowing it starts to freeze and turn into an icy login screen area.

do you know any good free 3d modeling software and 2d sotware.
and sites that can somewhat teach me advance art techneaks and stuff?

Thanks for your time.

Just look up wings3d tutorials and their homepage for some basic modeling. There is a whole onlike magazine devoted to blender.

Mastering Blender is a never ending task. Considering that new features are introduced with each release, there is almost always something new to learn.

The good side to this is that people are always posting tutorials. The bad side is that many of them are deprecated do to new features. For instance, the Apricot project has just introduced a slew of new features in to Blender, completely rewriting the Particle System (http://www.blender.org/development/current-projects/changes-since-244/particles/). It's really nice now too. If you're up to building Blender from SVN, you should give it a try.
