I think my video card isnt working...

My computer turns on and goes through the start up menu and what not. Then when it gets to the Windows XP loading screen its freezez and my Proccesor stops computing and its like it freezes. And ive also had problems with my video card while playing intence games. I have no clue whats wrong.
