Im looking for a program that some one can use to learn how to make a basic RPG, im looking to make a game that looks like the old school snes games or something, they seam easy enough. So what programs should i look for? and do you know where i can find some tutorials or something for it.

Can't say, you need to provide a bit more information. We know nothing about your computer, you didn't tell us about any error messages that occured when you ran it... just saying "it doesn't work, why?" doesn't help us help you.

Check out www.blitzmax.com - blitz max is a great language to learn game development on - its fast, has BASIC syntax, and compiles for WIN, Linux and MAC. Very helpful community as well

1. It costs money!
2. It's not very powerfull. If you really want to program the game yourself then use Python with Pygame. That's power and ease of use in one thing combined.

It should be noted that I only used Blitz software before I began my Linux journey (Ubuntu 6.06) and I would now recommend C++ to anyone :)
