View Full Version : Can't enable mp3 ripping in Sound Juicer

Hi,

I'm running 7.10, and need to rip some of my CD's to my mp3 (only) player.

I followed the guides to the letter, ie: install gstreamer ugly plugin, fire-up Sound Extractor, (mp3 profile already exists), tick "active" box, restart sound extractor.
This all worked fine, but when I restart, no mp3 profile exists in the drop-down menu, for me to select.

I've been using Linux for 10 years, so am a little embarrassed by my stupidity.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Chris.

Hi there,

Sorry, I just reread your post and realized that you already did what I suggested.
The only other thing that comes to my mind is the little active checkbox in the preferences for the encoding profiles for sound juicer. That sounds stupid, but this was one of the problems I had when I didn't see the MP3 format in Juicer. Go to Sound Juicer->Edit->Preferences-> Edit Profiles. Chose the MP3 format and hit edit. Make sure that the active checkbox is checked.

HTH

P.S.: I just saw, that you did that, too. Sorry, for this not so helpful post. I have no idea where else to look.

You need to install the mp3 encoder.
you can download it from this site:

http://soundconverter.berlios.de/gstreamer-mp3-encoding-howto/

Choose Ubuntu OS, download it, install it (once you've finished downloading, it installs automatically), restart your Sound Juicer and enjoy. :guitar:

Sorry but this still does not work for me,
i have the active box ticked and i went to the site (http://soundconverter.berlios.de/gstreamer-mp3-encoding-howto/) and downloaded and installed the encoder.

i think sound juicer just has a bug... :(
