I made this simple template with instructions using Inkscape. Using it you can make a CD label or... as I use if for... create full disk lightscribe labels to be burned using Lacie's 4L-gui

Instructions are a layer in the file and can be turned off when you export you label to bitmap. I export as .png for burning lightscribe labels.

Please let me know how this works out for you. It's not fancy, but it seems to work out fine for this purpose.

I just stumbled across your post. Amazing that you posted this almost a year ago and have had no comments. I've been looking for exactly this.

It's a shame that most open source products don't release nice cd labels and/or lightscribe labels for their releases.

I hate handing people an ugly looking burned ubuntu cd. I'd rather hand them a lightscribe disc.

You just provided me with a good reason to get Inkscape on my Ubuntu gear. Elkoran dankon! (Thank you!).

I just burned my first LightScribe disc using Simple Labeler. Spectacularly unimpressive. So I downloaded your template and I'm off to find the LaCie labeler. Thanks!

wow... hehehe... yeah it has been a while since I posted this. I'm glad it is helping someone. I still use the template. It's not real complicated or polished, but it's pretty easy to see what I did and add more layers or arcs to put text on or whatever you want.
