View Full Version : Odd question. Is there another name for REALLY short USB extension cables?

Long story short... got a USB adapter for my laptop that works with Fedora, however I hate having the thing stick out, so I've been using the small 5 inch USB extension cable it comes with so instead of having the actual adapter stick out, I just have the typical USB plug along with the dangling adapter.

However, the extension is very very stiff. I have another USB extension cable but it's like 10 feet... not practical for a laptop!

I'd like to get another genuine USB extension cable that's like 6 inches or so. Even a foot would be fine. But the shortest I can find them is 3 feet.

Do they make such things for resale on sites like newegg? Or do they just make these to disperse them among USB devices being sold on the market?

I am not sure, but I have only seen such things with other devices.

I'm sure a search of stores or newegg might yield results, I don't know about 6" though.

I found this site: http://www.usbgear.com/

I'd call it a USB Patch cable. Googling patch cables returns http://www.pacificcable.com/USB.htm which seems to be what you are looking for.
