Hey guys, I've just been hired to make a graduation video for a family friend of mine. Question is, I want to do it in linux using free software. I need a program recommendation. It doesn't need to be complicated, just needs to let me essentially drop photos into a timeline and add music to it. Thanks!

There are a lot of options for doing this. I personally use Cinelerra because of the control I have in creating the slideshow.
There are drag and drop slideshow programs for Ubuntu. Most are based on the dvd-slideshow project.
Just do a seach on the fourm, yoy will find lots of info.

I like Kdenlive. It has a Slideshow as a Project option. You bring in a whole folder of photos or you have to make several folders. The thing is, it imports stills in gangs. You set the time per photo. Do a little cut and snip, if you like, on a multi-track Timeline with transitions. Export as DV(Raw) if you want to take it into Cinelerra as a video / DVD project with multi-track sound. Otherwise, I've found Kdenlive pretty impressive to convert both multi-track audio and video into whatever formats for what I'm trying to create. Kdenlive is in the Repositories. Cinelerra takes time to install and learn (but it IS powerful).
