Fellow Ubuntu users,

I was wondering if anyone has managed to get Black & White 2 working either in Wine or Cedega.

I have been doing some research & found that there are problems with recognising the CD (I heard some people offer No-CD Cracks as a solution - has anyone tried this & got it to work?)

Some say the problem might be requirements of directx9.0c, I have heard Cedega supports 9.0c - not sure if the new version of Wine does.

Perhaps VM might be the answer?

Either way, if anyone has managed to get Black & White 2 to work without dual-booting I would love to hear what you used to do this & got it work.

Many thanks

Thanks for your speedy reply;

Checked out that page; seems its only tested with older versions. Perhaps the newer versions solve previous problems.

The Cedega game database isn't very informative either (Altho I am not registered so I may not be seeing something)

I own the game but left it with a friend at home, so can't get it back until I go home for christmas & was wondering if there was a possiblity on getting it to run -somehow- in Linux.

If all goes well, I'll be upgrading my graphics card some time this week - at that point, I was planning on benchmarking a few games in wine for comparison.

I'll see if I can get around to fiddling with my copy of Black and White 2 as well.

I spent the last 20 minutes looking for my copy as well. Giving up since I'm not prepared to wade through a stack of random cds in the storage room.

Better luck to the next person :D

Update:

Contacted Trans gaming (Cedega ppl) & they responded with the following:

"Hello

Many of the fixes going into the next major release of Cedega should
help with Black and White 2 support, however, this is not a title we are
particularly targeting so it may continue to not work after the release.
Until we are closer to a final package and testing is performed I
cannot say for sure if it will be working."

Shame they're not targeting it, but fingers crossed!

No surprise here, B&W2 is quite an old game. I was rather surprised to see your thread title when I was browsing the wine forums.
