Strange thing about performance

Hello, everybody.

Here is my trouble. I'm running a game (DoW : DC) on my machine using wine(v.9.49, Kubuntu v.7.04) When I set all graphical options to a maximum it causes some lags (like when options are too high), but when I set them all on minimum it doesn't help. These lags are not too big, but annoying.

NOTE: I don't play over an Internet or LAN - only local campaigns.

Is this a new problem, or has the game always done this?

* 1.4GHz Pentium III or equivalent AMD Athlon XP processor or equivalent
* 256MB RAM
* 4X CD-ROM
* 1800MB hard drive space

Recommended Requirements:

* 2.2GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent
* 512 MB RAM
* GeForce 3, ATI Radeon 8500 or equivalent with 64MB of Video RAM

Cel 1.7 GHz, 768 Mb RAM, Nvidia GF4 Ti 4400
