Some I have installed right now:
1. Torcs (Very good.. hard to play though.. more "simulation" than "arcade-y")
2. VDrift (Very hard.. you have to use clutch and manual shifting and stuff. Good graphics.)
3. Trigger (A rally car racing game, with more of the Need for speed "arcade" racing feel)
All three are Free/Open Source. Search HappyPenguin.org for em. They're cool.

Best resource for Linux gaming is happypenguin.org, and this is the first result of a search for 'kart' there:
http://happypenguin.org/show?KartingRace
It's a decent 3d kart game.

A good one seems Racer. It's only problem is the name: try finding it on Google!
Download:

And homepage:
www.racer.nl

Ah, forgot about Racer. It's interesting. Pay no mind to the fact that its under a "wierd" license. (Consider it FreeWARE). It's still pretty good.
