Anyone got any ideas how to fix this?

im running wow trough wine, got it working fine with opengl mode

i got ati radeon 1800 card, installed drivers with no probs

ive done all the registry tweaking and all other possible things ive found to up fps but not really managed to get it right

problem is that fps is generally low and keeps pouncing around all the time, im getting anything from 6fps to 93fps, weirdest part is that it doesnt really seem to matter where i am or what i do in the game

tryed running the game with add-ons and without them, no chance

tried it with highest resolutions and graphic effects, only chance was that instead of 6fps i was getting 8fps

read on some forum that turning off sound helps but nothing

anyone had the same probs?

we have 2 pcs both running gs7600 pci-e gfx cards and we are having very variable fps rates too, for us it can range from 10fps up to 90+fps, most of the time it is between 25 and 65 tho, but it can vary so rapidly,

we too have done all the tweaking and fiddling in the how tos

also its weird but sometimes you can have a very low fps and a very high latency yet play is very smooth and no trouble, then another time you have a good fps and a good latency and yet your glitching and jumping all over the place.

tbh im not sure its our end, but to get blizzard to even answer you let alone admit anything is wrong their end is like well dam right impossible

good luck in a search for a cure.......

i dont mind having 90+ fps:)

its just the fact that when fps goes below 10 the game becomes unplayable atleast for me

anything 15+ is still playable even tought little glitchy and annoying at times

during the time with Ubuntu+wine i havent had bad latency so cant say how that effects

sad part is that at times fps is at 40+ for sometime, things are running nice and smooth and suddenly fps drops to 8-12

May I suggest that you drop your terrain view distance down a lot.
I have found and especially in Outland that changing this helps alot.

Clean out those mods and only run what you need.
I find that default blizzard UI with raid essential stuff is enough

nVidia cards have better linux drivers as well, so if you are serious about gaming on linux on your next upgrade serioulsy considered nVidia.
